Hospice Memorial Services with Peace Together music!

Peace Together began as a way to create a special collection of music that would comfort the hearts of hospice patients and families.   Soon after our first CD's were created, we began performing comforting songs to sing at memorial services for several area hospices,  and even for the Ohio Hospice Annual meeting!  It is a challenge to find and learn beautiful arrangments of songs that reach the spirits of grieving loved ones, addressing their losses but also lifting them up during a vulnerable time.  Many of the songs we are asked to sing are available on our CD's or individually on Itunes and other music sites, and include the following:

Dona Nobis Pacem - ("grant us peace")  - the words include verses:

"peace be yours when dawn is breaking
peace be yours when shadows fall
may your restless heart be cradled in the one who holds us all"

May the Road Rise to Meet You (an Irish Blessing with verses based on Ecclesiastes -

"...'For everything there is season, a time for meeting a time to say goodbye. In all things, God is near, always guiding your way..."

I Do Not sleep -

"... Do not stand by my grave and weep...I am not there I do not sleep...I am the joy and not the fear, and I'm with you..."

Wing of your love -

"...Lift me up Lord, let me catch the wind, heal my broken spirit, teach me how to fly again..."

Precious Lord Take My Hand -

"...Precious Lord take my hand, lead me on, let me stand, I am tired, I am weak, I am worn, Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light, take my hand precious Lord, lead me home..."

My Heart Will Go On  - (Titanic theme)

"...Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you
that is how I know you go on
Far across the distance, and spaces between us
you have come to show your go on...

Near, far, whereever you are i believe that the heart does go on.
Once more you open the door and you're hear in my heart and my heart will go on and on..."

Be Not Afraid base on Isaiah 43 and Luke 6) -

"...You can cross the barren desert and you shall not die of thirst
You shall wander far in safety, though you do not know the way,
you shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand
you shall see the face of God and live...

refrain:
Be not afraid,
I go before you always,
come follow me, and I will give you rest"

Sometimes: (this has a beautiful piano intro that is long enough to provide a beautiful back drop for a reading)

"...Sometimes, not often enough, we reflect upon the good things
and those thoughts always center around  those we love
And I think of all those people who mean so much to  me
who for so many years have made me so very happy
and I count the times i have forgotten to say, thank you! ...and just how much I love them...."

My Help (Cometh from the Lord)

"...I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help
my help cometh from the Lord, the Lord who made heaven and earth..."

Total Praise

."..Lord I will lift my eyes to the hills, knowing my help is coming from you
Your peace you give me in times of the storm
You are the source of my strength
You are the strength of my life
I lift my hands in total praise to you..."

Be Still my Soul (nice for a Prelude)

...Be still my soul, be still my soul
Cease from the labor and the toil
Refreshing springs of peace await to troubled minds and hearts that ache.
Be still my soul God knows your way, and He will guide for His names' sake
Plunge in the river of His grace
Rest in the arms of His embrace....

Amazing Grace - (we have 2 very different versions) - and sometimes we just sing with the congregation.

Through many dangers, toils and sanres, we have already come. Twas Grace that brought us safe thus far, and Grace will lead us home...

You Raise Me Up with Be Still My Soul    "...Be still my soul, the Lord is on your side, bear patiently your cross of grief or shame..."

"When I am down and oh, my soul, so weary. When troubles come and my heart burdened be...Then I am still and wait here in the silence, until you come and sit a while with me..."
